What we seek is a team oriented, dynamic, self-starting and customer focused technician with a positive attitude. You don’t need to be an expert in the telephone business, however, as our systems are migrating toward being a full “IP” network, you need a strong computer background with a great understanding of networking.

This isn’t your normal position where you may be relegated to one facet of technology or repetitive tasks. Instead, you will be instrumental and have the chance to work in many technical areas.

Here’s how you will contribute:
  • By providing installation, repair, and maintenance of a variety of network and communications equipment and systems (switches, routers, modems, PBX, home monitoring)
  • You will test repaired, newly installed or updated equipment including switching and network equipment to ensure that it functions properly and conforms to specifications
  • You will utilize your technical expertise and savvy to explain technical issues to customers providing solutions for their service needs
  • Use a variety of test and locating equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze equipment trouble and take appropriate maintenance action

Located in Elkader, Iowa, 15 miles west of the Mississippi, in beautiful Clayton County, Alpine Communications offers telephone, wireless, broadband internet access, digital TV and home monitoring service. If a challenging technical position with customer contact excites you and you have experience with similar technology, combined with a passion for learning new technologies; we need to talk!

Our customers have varying levels of technical comprehension, which require a talented and patient support specialist who is an effective communicator. This position is responsible for providing support to our clients and handles a unique mix of issues in the areas of telephony, computer networking, Internet, and IPTV video systems.

Preferred applicant will have:

Minimum two year degree in computers, technology or related field or equivalent training and experience in electronics Excellent interpersonal/customer service skills Excellent communication skills Strong computer knowledge and background Must be comfortable with and enjoy being on the phone

Primary responsibilities:

Answer inbound technical support phone calls, chats and emails related to broadband services Consult with customers and provide additional solutions in the form of upselling Alpine's products and services Troubleshoot and resolve voice, broadband, video and connection issues Answer customer service and related questions Track and record each interaction and provide detailed description of the interaction Provide assistance to other team members Perform other duties

A snapshot of your role:

  • Provide a quality customer experience by actively listening and effectively educating customers regarding product/service features and benefits and troubleshooting occasional issues.
  • Ensure new orders, installations, troubles, and payments are processed promptly and accurately.
  • Be a guiding presence for five CSRs in two locations.
  • Help the team better identify and address customer needs across various touchpoints resulting in greater customer satisfaction and increased profitability.
  • Hone a culture of teamwork, performance, and service excellence.
  • Facilitate sales and marketing strategies to broaden the customer base and increase penetration of existing customers.

This position calls for hands-on experience performing the responsibilities listed above in a highly competent manner. Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft 365 esp. w/ Word / Excel and a willingness to become our guru desired.
